Treatment options

We treat a variety of mental health needs of children through to  adults.

Dr. Wendy Harris and the highly trained clinicians at Armonk Integrated Psychiatry have extensive training and many years experience treating eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and ADHD using both therapy and medication.

In addition we have expertise in addressing social difficulties through group and individual treatment.

We also have a special interest in assisting patients through difficult life transitions, including job loss, divorce, parenthood, mid life and menopause.

Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation

We offer a complete psychiatric evaluation including integrating information from other professionals involved in your care, establishing a treatment plan and assessing appropriateness of medication. This assessment can include the latest advances in genetic testing to assist in determining the best medication options.

We offer a  collaborative, thoughtful, informed approach to management of your medications, including close communication with your treating therapist. We also offer the latest technology in genetic testing which can help to establish the most suitable medication regimen.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is one of the most successful, evidence based treatments for depression and anxiety disorders including phobias, obsessive-compulsive and panic disorders, and eating disorders. CBT is a time limited, highly structured, active, skills building treatment intervention. The benefit of this type of treatment is that if we can change the way we think, then we can change the way we feel and act, even if we can't change our situation.

This form of therapy can be used by any couple that is in a committed relationship, or those trying to navigate through ending their relationship in a peaceful and collaborative manner. While engaging in treatment a couple will have the opportunity to develop effective communication and problem-solving techniques. Couples are able to learn how to build upon the strength of their relationship and meet the demands and stress that everyday life or transitions can bring.

Talk therapy is effective for a wide range of mental health symptoms including depression, anxiety, panic and stress-related physical ailments.

The treatment emphasis is self-examination, self-reflection and self knowledge, with a goal towards the alleviation of symptoms, and leading a healthier life. This can be short or long-term, depending on the need.

Family Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that brings a family together to solve shared problems. Instead of, or sometimes in addition to working with each individual separately, family members work collaboratively, and in return strengthen the family system as a whole. This is especially useful when families are going through transition such as divorce, or in cases such as having a family member with a serious illness. Strengthening the family as a whole helps each individual member.

Behavioral Therapy

DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) is a comprehensive cognitive-behavioral treatment for complex, difficult to treat mental disorders.

DBT treats those individuals, adults and adolescents with borderline personality disorders, binge eating, depression and substance dependence.

At Armonk Integrated Psychiatry we can integrate DBT concepts into treatment when appropriate.

As any parent will attest, parenting is one of the hardest jobs there is, and it doesn’t come with a guidebook. Each parent/child combination is unique, and can face its own particular difficulties along the way. Parent coaching helps one or both parents navigate the highs and lows of raising a child, from typical children to those with special needs.
